Photo Diary: Engagement Shoot at Muriwai Beach
Captured: June 2018
When I saw a good deal for a photoshoot done by Ellie Gray of Ellie Gray Photography, who bases herself at Muriwai Beach in the Waitākere Ranges Regional Park (Auckland), I was really keen on getting some photos done (and an excuse for a bit of a roadie out west) with my then-boyfriend now-husband of ten months at the time.
I had no idea he came to the photoshoot with a ring in his coat pocket.
Ellie did a fantastic job capturing the magic that is Muriwai Beach at sunset, and when she found herself unexpectedly capturing a proposal, she got the most beautiful shots of the moment and the aftermath that we will treasure forever.
If you love Ellie’s work, check out her website here.
Here are some favourites from our engagement-I-just-didn’t-know-it photoshoot.
We are so grateful this extraordinary moment in our love story was captured so beautifully by Ellie. My favourite shot will always be the one of him down on one knee – which is a silhouette shot like those above, on the big boulder.
That big boulder is at Māori Bay, which is around the corner from Muriwai Beach. We are well overdue to go back and catch another sunset on our rock.
